Tested a few days ago actually, it works fine on Ubuntu 14.04 with mono compiled from source and not using apt-get.

Linux is not a forgiving operating system and requires work to get where you want it. When it is there though it will usually work better than any other OS. I use Linux for most of my projects.

However, as .net is a windows technology and you require a third party library/compiler to run on *nix it is not going to be anywhere near as stable or nice to use if you are using mono.
 
maybe I will go back someday. Looks like I need to learn more Linux than I know now.
Any tutorials on how to get everything working like it should, without using apt-get, that is my scope of knowledge on Linux.
