The branches are where in-development changes are being developed. Only the master should be considered stable and tested. All branches will eventually be deleted after they are either merged with master or abandoned. I know I have a few out there at the moment. I got a bit burned out with testing over the weekend so I started playing on a shard for the last two days, leaving my work in progress still, well, in progress
