I cant seem to figure out why it would do that. Any ideas?
I'm guessing you're talking about the Xmlspawner entry, using the CAST keyword. I have noticed this before, but discovered it was because the item(s) being held, were not "mage weapons", or "spell channeling".

Does this happen every time, or are you seeing the same thing I did above?
 
They were holding bows, staffs, swords so I am assuming every weapon. So now I use Hidden=true on playerproperty and then use SETONTRIGMOB,Hidden/false
