Hello! There were two scripts by ParanoiaHD that enabled NPCs to query OpenAI servers for chat functionality. One bot did not work at all, and the other one I was actually able to spawn, but without OpenAI access, obviously did not generate any speech. i started looking into this today. Did you make any headway? Im debating using api calls vs running a local small model. Ive also thought about just running a semi larger model on upgrade hardware. I dunno. Massive overkill but i want all my NPCS to be real people and interact etc and have memories and stories etc.
