Scripts not updating unless I recompile?

I'm running a fresh server and adding custom stuff one at a time, but I can't seem to get anything to update unless I re-compile. In the past, it's been as simple as restarting the server. What gives?

at some point it changed, you do have to recompile the whole server for custom scripts to be incorporated. Can't comment on why, just the way it is now!

Wait... what? So anytime you add/change a custom script you have recompile? What a total pain. Remind me to never 'upgrade' my server.

Glad I found this.. I am curious as to why this change was made? Merely for the sake of knowing. Is there a way to revert permanently or temporarily for things like troubleshooting your own creations?
