Fiddler - Adding gumps - image format?

greetings -

i want to add the following image in gump art


I size it to 225x350, save as a bmp, and open fiddler.
when adding the image to gumps in fiddler though, this is what i get



what's going on here? its basic 256 color bmp image format... any ideas?

The client treats true black as transparent. Try to change the original just slightly enough to end up with "not quite" full black.

Convert it to grayscale and take 3% of the black or white. And then convert it back to RGB. And save as bmp. Or create a duaton from that picture. This may be easier because I probably wouldn't want to edit this image manually.

thanks, and that makes sense... whats a duaton?
I use gimp so im sure i can grayscale it a bit

Pure white is also transparent so you need to darken it a tad.

Duathon, is a graphic term for creating an image with only two colors. Triathon with three and so on. I think gimp can do it too, but I don't know where to look there. I do not use it.
