So, I'm getting really old. I've been playing UO since 98 and the years are all blending together. I'm trying to work on a community project for a version of ServUO for shards prior to AOS.

This is a massive cleanup and I've already come a long way of removing newer systems. However, my brain is jumbling things and I need some help. Right now, I'm trying to remove properties that arent needed and clean up the serializations. Can anyone remember back to their pre-AOS days? I need things like:

When did Insurance come in?

Weapons and Armor had Strength requirements, did they have Intelligence or Dex Requirements? (I only ask cause I don't remember them have requirements but there is a property on weapons and armor for that)

When did pet bonding come in?

What quests existed prior to AOS (if any)?

Stat/Skill loss on murderers?

I'm sure I'll have more but if you have any major things I should consider, please post those here as well.

I'd say that's pretty accurate but I stopped playing either shortly before or after Third Dawn came out

On armor the main thing I remember was strength requirements and dex loss. You needed enough strength to put on a full set of plate armor - but also lost dex while wearing it. So there was not a dex requirement per se... but you had to to have enough to spare. This kept warriors in plate and mages in leather :)

Pub 16 was on of the 'big' pubs. It did away with see-sawing stats, added in guaranteed gain system, powerscrolls, spined & horned leather were added in for enhancing, powder of fortifying added in, and they added the 'quest' button (we did not have a lot of quest back then, but we did have Solen)... There was a lot more in Pub 16, that is all I can think of offhand. Right before Pub 16 was my all-time favorite era :)

Also, special moves from uoguide
Special moves were first introduced with the Renaissance expansion. Every two handed weapon of the three fighting skills was given a special ability that had a 20% chance of executing on each blow. The chance of success was increased with more Intelligence. These special moves only worked in player versus player combat.

During the Age of Shadows expansion, the entire system was revamped. Special moves were now a macro that could be used any time a player wanted. They could also be used on both players and monsters. To balance the powerful new attacks, mana was made a requirement. Instead of just 3 moves, 9 more were added to bring the total up to 12. Later on the Samurai Empire expansion added another 10, Mondain's Legacy added 7.

  • The Tactics skill requirement was added on August 29, 2007 in Publish 46.
 
I'd recommend that you go over to http://uosecondage.com , there is a huge amount of work done in recollecting accurate information on T2A era. Derrick (the admin) have done the most accurate T2A shard in my opinion. There are 2 forums that might interest you: "Patch Notes" and "Suggestions & Era accuracy". After that it will be easier to apply changes made in Renaissance era.
