Bittiez submitted a new resource:

Simple File Updater - Customizable - A highly customization file updater for your players.

This is a free client updater, you have full control over text, colors, graphics.
I've included instructions for customizing and building to release to your players.
This also includes the file server where you'll store your client files.
Check out the github page(download link) for instructions!

Big Thanks to Bittiez – SimpleFileUpdater is a Game-Changer

Just wanted to give a huge shoutout to Bittiez for releasing SimpleFileUpdater — this is something I’ve been looking for for a long time, and it delivered exactly what I needed.

I'm running the Ghost Town shard and wanted a way for players to easily stay updated without downloading full client zips every time. I had no experience with Python or building .NET projects before this, but with some help and digging, I was able to set everything up in about a day.

I learned how to:

  • Run the Python-based update server and open the correct ports
  • Configure the updater to use my VPS and update only changed files
  • Rebuild the .NET client and customize the settings
  • Modify the file handling so everything installs cleanly into my existing Files\ subfolder

The end result? Players just run FileUpdaterClient.exe, and it patches only what they need — clean, fast, and shard-friendly.

Huge respect and appreciation to Bittiez for making something this useful, lightweight, and shareable with the community. This will save me — and others — a ton of time.

Thanks again!

Thanks for the shout-out!

Did you rebuild it afterwards? The connection uses exactly what is put into the settings file, can you show me what yours looks like?

sure.. this is after the rebuild. I know that the rebuild works as i was able to change the other settings like patch name ect.
i dont know if there is a scope i need to use? Im trying to change the port due to the bot sniffing on this port is pretty extensive. pretty spooky.
