how would I run a server on wdmycloud? and does anyone know if it is even possible?

It would be possible only if you could run an operating system on the device. But you cannot so no it is not possible to run a UO server directly from mycloud. It is a file serving machine essentially just a big HDD. You could serve the server files from there to a computer that would run the server though.
