Hello Everyone (Trying to fit alot in one post to avoid multiple posts)
I am looking to get a private server for testing use up, i want similar to outlands where it can be full screen with a full map above (Not just the mini map from classic client, this might have to be hardcoded and developed if so please let me know)

Im looking for best tools (pandoras box as an example - cannot get it to work currently) to help develop a fun shard to play on.

As far as uploading a custom map (Darkshards) how do we do this? I cannot find the original map anywhere in the client files to swap out and assuming it has to be coded in alternatively along with placing the bmp file in there. (Also is there a way to edit the map in game with commands?)

Also wanted to know about using UOsteam as a client vs classic client and what this would improve/help or detract.

FYI: UO Steam is an Assistant like Razor, these can load the client but do not act as a client alone.

Classic UO already comes with the full screen map, referred to as World Map. You set the size manually by dragging the corner of the map.

This isn't going to be a drag and drop type of project. I would suggest searching for your topics here, Google and ChatGPT. You will be surprised at how much detail ChatGPT can provide such as where, how to and even raw code.

It's going to take time to get things working and learn the ins and outs, set your goals first then complete each before moving to the next. For example Pandora does you no good until you've got the map so put that at the bottom of your list.

And lastly, maps are not image files such as bmp, these will be MUL and UOP files, such as Map0.mul

I'm currently using ServUO 54.2 with client version 7.0.20.

I'm using CentrED, I couldnt get CentrED + to work. This is for altering tiles on the map. Runs on its own server for map design.

I'm using UO Architect for adding buildings and scenery.

I'm currently messing with UO Fiddler for adding custom art but Ive been hung up for about a week trying to get the items to show in-game.

I've played with DragonMod and UOLandscaper, both good for making large land masses and edits to the maps. DragonMod doesn't appear to support new map size and UOLandscaper requires Photoshop to load ACO and ACT files. I'm a paint shop pro guy so I stopped messing with that until I get Photoshop. Tho I've considered going to an old client with the old map size so I can use DragonMod

I use UOPTool to convert from UOP to MUL and back, though I think I only need this for GumpArt with 7.0.20

I'm using Orion launcher to launch my client and that's how I get the Outlands style map resizing and zooming capabilities. UOC and Steam both offer those same features if I'm not mistaken.

The best tool... the forums. Surfing the threads has taken me far getting information to install and use these tools.

All that being said, I haven't messed with server emulation in years so I'm incredibly rusty and novice.

For GhxstCode: Pandora Box works, use version 5: https://www.servuo.com/archive/pandoras-box-reopened.1012/You can find the Darkshards map on the poolserver here: https://github.com/polserver/related_resourcesAnd in general: As Tecmo writes, you have to learn to work with UO files and with individual programs for the given files. the map is UOL, Dragon or centred (both), arts, gumps animation is work with a graphics program (photoshop, gimp) and then with UO Fiddler for inserting and editing other necessary files. You can even find all the information here on the ServUO forum, or its discord.

For ShadowLord: UO Architect is a very old program. I think that the program centred has long since surpassed it. UOL and DragonMod are not just for creating large maps. With UOL I also build very small areas, which I then copy to the server map. This also answers your problem with DragonMod and map sizes. you don't have to generate a new map size in Dragons. Make the old one for ML and then copy it to your new map.

Thank you. Thats a fantastic work around. What tool do you use to copy your smaller map into your bigger map?
